Y6 Science Week beginning 29th June

Date: 27th Jun 2020 @ 12:53pm

Y6 Science for Week Beginning 29th June.

This week, you are going to be creating electrical circuits and drawing circuit diagrams. If you have bulbs, batteries and wire, you can make them at home with an adult, but if you haven’t got any equipment, you can go to a website to create these. There is a useful knowledge organiser on the blog, to help you if you need it.

Monday

L.O: To explain the importance of the major discoveries in electricity.

  1. Open the Lesson PowerPoint and get your activity 1 sheet ready. Answer the quiz questions. If you would rather just jot down your answers on a piece of paper, or in a book, that’s fine.
  2. When you have finished the quiz, you can start activity 2. For this, you need a sheet of information and a question sheet. Choose with level of difficulties you would normally choose during guided reading and complete the reading comprehension.
  3. When you have finished, ask an adult to check it for you.

Tuesday

L.O: to use the correct symbols to draw a circuit diagram.

  1. Open the lesson PowerPoint to remind yourself about the different symbols for the components used in an electrical circuit.
  2. When prompted, decide which Activity 1 sheet you want to complete. You can choose from *, ** or ***, depending on how confident you feel.
  3. Once you have completed Activity 1, ask an adult to check it for you.
  4. Now go back to the lesson PowerPoint and do the Circuit Symbol Challenge. You will need a pen and paper for this or you can use the Activity 2 sheet if you find it helpful.

Wednesday

L.O: to describe how circuits are affected when changes are made.

  1. Today, you are going to be doing some practical work, either online at or with bulbs , wires and batteries if you have them at home.
  2. Click on the link to open the website and then follow the instructions on the sheet. http://www.cleo.net.uk/consultants_resources/science/circuitWorld/circuitworld.html

Thursday

L.O: to explain the effects of different voltages in a circuit

  1. Open the lesson PowerPoint and watch the video.
  2. Make predictions about how the different voltages with affect the circuit and then try it out on either of the websites below or any different website you know of. You can choose which sheet you would like to use.
  3.  Write a paragraph about what you have discovered.
