Year 6 Homework

Date set: 6/11//2020

To be completed by: Wednesday 13/11/2020

Children in Year 6 are expected to complete 60 minutes of homework each week.

Please help and support your child wherever possible. However, your child should be able to complete the work independently as it is linked to objectives taught during the week at school.

Although homework is now set through online platforms, your child’s teacher is able to see if your child has completed tasks set and how well they have understood the task. Rewards will be given to children for completing homework on time.

Active Learn – 20 minutes

Please login to your Active Learn account and have a go at the tasks set this week.

The activities that your child’s teacher has set should be visible in their personal account under the tab ‘My Stuff’. You will find the options ‘Bug club’ for reading and ‘Grammar and spelling’.

Please contact us if there is an issue with the site via teachers@dobcroft-jun.sheffield.sch.uk

Times Tables – 10 minutes

This half-term the three Year 6 classes will be going head to head competing to be crowned TT Rockstar champions. This week Y6PH were the victorious class with an impressive total earned. A big well done to the children in Y6CT and Y6TH who have logged on and earnt coins for your class, your hard work and effort is continued to be noticed.

This week will be the second battle to be played using the Y6 cohort leader board format as seen below. The winning class each week will receive MVP certificates to take home as well as extra reward time at some point during the week. The class who has the most wins by the end of next term will receive a TT Rockstar trophy to stay in their class until another class challenges them for the title.

Remember, keep your accuracy and the speed will improve over time. Keep up the good work.

Children are expected to know their tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4. This knowledge needs to be retained and applied in a variety of mathematical contexts as they continue learning. Please ensure that tables knowledge is retained using Times Table Rockstars each week.

In addition to these: Reading

Please encourage your child to read with an adult at least 3 times per week for around 15 minutes. At this age, the time may be spent chatting about the text and the content of what they are reading rather than spending time decoding the text – you will know your child best in this respect.
