Lesson 1

LO: To recap present perfect tense

Warm up – can you remember how to spell these verbs in the past tense? Ask your adult to help you!

Task 1

We have looked at present perfect tense before (get it?!)

1)         I have been to the cinema

2)         We have eaten the cake

3)         She has won the race

How would you answer the questions on the flipchart? They have been asked in Present Perfect tense. Can you answer them in present perfect?

Task 2

Look at picture of the lady. What can you infer about her? *use the picture clues

Task 3

Write down 6 questions that you would like to ask Ashley. Make sure four of them are written in present perfect tense. Use the task frame to help you.

What wold you like to find out about this photo? Write at least four questions. Try to make one in present perfect if you can!

LO: To place events in Chronological order

Warm up- Use possessive apostrophes for these pictures. Eg The cat’s fish

Today we are going to learn about another amazing woman called Yusra Mardini. She grew up in Syria where there has been fighting since 2011. When people have to leave their homes and countries to stay safe from war or other dangers they are called refugees. Yusra is a refugee. Luckily in 2021 most of Syria is free from fighting.

On the flipchart, can you order the statements into chronological (date) order?

Task

Now read another lady’s story. Can you put her life events in chronological order? What can you learn about her from doing this?
