Dobcroft Junior School uses part of the Sports Premium to subscribe to the Sheffield Points Learning Network. The benefits of the partnership include:
Termly network meetings with other PE subject leaders across the city enabling a sharing of good practice and an opportunity to meet PE specialists and benefit from CPD in areas such as PE skills and assessment strategies.
Twice yearly development meetings to review our long-term action plan, assess the effectiveness of our sports premium expenditure and to give support and advice to our PE subject leader.
Regular local and national updates are provided.
We attend the annual Points Network Games taking 30 Year 4 children to the EIS (DJS were the winners in 2018!)
We are able to recruit specialist development coaches. For the last 2 years we have focussed on improving the provision, teaching and assessment of gymnastics skills for all of the children from Year 3 to Year 6.
In September, our PE subject leaders attended the city wide PE conference with numerous workshops and training given.
Support in our application for the School Games Mark Award which reflects the provision of PE at our school. In 2016 and 2017 we have achieved the Silver Award reflecting our excellent provision of PE, lunchtime and afterschool clubs and competitions and the coaching opportunities for our Year 6 Sports Leaders. It is also recognised that we run a Change 4 Life breakfast club to encourage all children to be involved in sporting clubs.
