Y6 Reading 

Task 1 – 25.1.2021 – Monday

Use KS2 English Reading Books - these will be send home with children who are in school today (Friday) or can be collected from the office. Please don't worry if you can't collect these immediately - 20-30 minutes of independent reading will be fine until they can be collected.

Set B: Test 1

  • Read the text.
  • Highlight any unfamiliar vocabulary and check meanings in a dictionary.
  • Answer the questions. 
  • Check answers at the back of the book - editing any answers that need it.
  • Choose three more challenging words from the text and, in your Remote Learning Exercise books, write the next paragraph of the text including these words.

LO: to explore the effects of water resistance 

NB: this lesson involves a practical investigation. It will be helpful to have the following items: modelling clay or blu-tac, a measuring cylinder (or a tall receptacle such as a vase/pint glass), water, large water tray (or bath), fan (or puffs of breath), a stopwatch/timer and junk modelling materials (in school we will just be using modelling clay, paper and lollypop sticks).

  • Create a presentation to inform others about Simple Machines such as gears, pulleys and levers.

Y6 French

WB 25.01.2021

This week we are going to look at the French words for fruits and vegetables. Watch the two videos and then write in French what foods you like and dislike on the sheet. You could also draw a picture of the food and research even more French words to add to the plates! I also want you to do a survey of what fruit and vegetables your family like and dislike. Use the attached sheet to review the names of family members then write sentences (at least 4) about your family members’ preferences. You could try to add conjunctions too (mais=but, et=and).

 Example: Mon frere aime les pommes. = My brother likes apples.

LO:To understand that secure passwords can keep our information safe

  • Name the three most important things for a password to be.
  • look at the series of images that represent an imaginary child. Write a list of ten potential passwords that they may have used.
  • Use https://howsecureismypassword.net/ to see how easy it is to crack a password when you have a computer to help you hack them
  • On the task sheet, you have been given information about three people. Can you create three poor passwords for each person, like the ones the child above picked, based upon their personal information.
