Year 4 Maths Week Beginning 22nd June.

Hi Year 4, you will be carrying on with the unit on money this week. You will be estimating and ordering and then using all 4 operations with money. We will end the week with an end of unit assessment.

Monday

Starter – open up the Starter PowerPoint and complete week 3 day 5

L.O: to estimate by rounding.

1. Click on the link to take you to a short BBC clip about rounding money for estimating costs.

2. Once you have reminded yourself about rounding, have a go at Activity 1. You will need the poster with the discounted toy prices and the 2 sheets with the different toy choices. There are 8 questions in total. If you would normally choose *, please complete 3, if you do ** please do 4 and if you do *** then please complete 5 or all of them if you wish.
3. When you have completed activity 1, ask an adult to check it for you.
4. Now move on to problem solving and reasoning, activity 2. It would be good for everybody to try at least one of the 2 questions.

Tuesday

Starter – open up the Starter PowerPoint and complete week 4 day 1.

L.O: to estimate by rounding.

1. Open the Lesson PowerPoint.
2. Work your way through the short lesson PowerPoint, answering the questions as you go.
3. Complete activity 1.  You can choose whether you do Diving (*), Deeper (**) or Deepest (***).
4. When you have completed the sheet, ask an adult to check your answers.
5. If you would like to do more,  have a go at the extra challenge sheet. Be systematic, work through the clues one by one, crossing off the prices it cannot be.
6. Ask an adult to check the answer sheet to see if you got it right.

Wednesday

Starter – open up the Starter PowerPoint and complete week 4 day 2.

L.O: to compare amounts of money.

1. Open the lesson PowerPoint and begin to work through the slides, stopping to answer the questions.
2. When prompted, complete activity 1. You can choose whether to work on *,** or ***.
3. When you have completed the activity, ask an adult to check it for you.
4.  Now have a go at the money game on twinkl go. Search Twinkl go and log in using the pin code QB3159.
5. Challenge yourself to answer more than I managed (40) in the time given.

Thursday

Starter – open the starter PowerPoint and complete week 4 day 3.

LO: to solve money problems using all four operations.

1. Work through the lesson PowerPoint, stopping to answer the questions.
2. When prompted, complete activity 1. Choose whether you want to try  Diving (*), Deeper (**) or  Deepest (***).
3. When you have completed the activity, ask an adult to check your work.
4. If you would like another challenge, have a go at the extra challenge activity. There is a little more information for adults if they need it.

Friday

1. Today you will be completing an end of unit assessment.
2. There is not a time limit and we would like you to do the test independently if you are able to.
3. When you have completed the test, let an adult mark it.
4. You could let your teacher know what your score is.
